| 10. | Close Encounters of the Third Kind |
| This movie is one which leaves you stunned an amazed with | |
| it's captivating conclusion and the tremendous musical score by | |
| John Williams. Williams' score is one of this films notable | |
| strengths as it draws the viewer in. The musical dialog of the | |
| finale is one which will live forever in cinematic history. | |
| A "close encounter of the third kind" is the designation given | |
| to a UFO landing where humans come into contact with an | |
| alien race. Leading up to this moment the viewer is given close | |
| encounters of the first and the second kind. | |
| Richard Dreyfuss (Roy Neary) and Melinda Dillon (Jillian | |
| Guiler) are two people of dozens around the world who are | |
| being summoned by an alien force to gather at Devil's Tower in | |
| Wyoming, USA. This compulsion gradually consumes the | |
| chosen members who are drawn to represent this place | |
| in art and sculpture. When the United States Military figures | |
| out what is going on they scramble to cordon off the area and | |
| to intercept the chosen human representatives in an effort to | |
| replace them with a ready crew. Neary and Guiler are the only | |
| two who are able to arrive at the site where the aliens land and | |
| invite members of the human race to join them for their return | |
| voyage. | |
| This film seems to send a message of love and goodwill | |
| through a similar message sent by the aliens to Earth. The | |
| musical message sent by this alien race transcends all cultural | |
| barriers and the fact that the aliens drew from cultures spanning | |
| the globe seems to suggest an intent of unity and harmony. | |
| This is a must see film. |
